Allah Gave the Prophet Yusuf (AS) Power Over the Treasure of Egypt

Allah Gave the Prophet Yusuf (AS) Power Over the Treasure of Egypt

Right from early childhood the Prophet Yusuf (as) was tested with all sorts of troubles, but displayed the most exemplary patience in the face of these, thus earning the approval of Allah, the infinitely compassionate and loving. This holy individual was exposed to many difficulties during the course of his life but never despaired and always trusted in and gave thanks to Allah. At a very early age the Prophet Yusuf (as) fell into a trap set for him by his brothers. Their first intention was to kill him outright, but at the suggestion of one of the brothers they cast him into a well instead. At that most difficult moment a miracle took place and Allah gave him knowledge of the future, revealing that He would foil all the snares set for him;
But when, in fact, they did go out with him and gathered all together and agreed to put him at the bottom of the well, We then revealed to him that: ‘You will inform them of this deed they perpetrate at a time when they are totally unaware’.” (Surat Yusuf, 15)
These tidings imparted to the Prophet Yusuf (as) by Allah soon came true. A group passing by the well found the prophet, although as they rescued him their real intention was to enslave and sell him instead;
Some travellers came that way and then dispatched their water-drawer who let his bucket down. He said, ‘Good news for me, I’ve found a boy!’ They then hid him away among their goods. Allah knew very well what they were doing. (Surat Yusuf, 19)
Slavery was widespread in Egypt at that time. Child slaves in particular were highly valued. His rescuers achieved their aim and sold him to the Egyptians for a very low price.
When the Prophet Yusuf (as) reached adulthood his physical beauty began attracting the attention of a great many women. First among these was the lady of the house he served, the wife of the Egyptian governor. Before long the governor’s wife made an improper suggestion to him, though the Prophet Yusuf (as) rejected this outright. Instead, he sought refuge in Allah as he knew that such a course of action would be sinful. This is how the Prophet Yusuf’s (as) behaviour in the face of that suggestion is described in the Qur’an:
The woman whose house it was solicited him. She barred the doors and said, ‘Come over here!’ He said, ‘Allah is my refuge! He is My lord and has been good to me with where I live. Those who do wrong will surely not succeed.’  She wanted him and he would have wanted her, had he not seen the Clear Proof of his Lord. That happened so We might avert from him all evil and lust. He was Our chosen slave. (Surat Yusuf, 23-24)
However, even though he was totally free of guilt, the governor’s wife began slandering him. She told her husband that the Prophet Yusuf (as) had been making advances to her. And she demanded that he be punished.
They raced to the door. She tore his shirt at the back. They met her husband by the door. She said, ‘How should a man whose intention was to harm your family be punished for what he did except with prison or painful punishment’? (Surat Yusuf, 25)
The Qur’an goes on to say:
He said, ‘It was she who tried to seduce me.’ A witness from her people then declared, ‘If his shirt is torn in front, she speaks the truth and he has clearly told a shameless lie. If his shirt is torn at the back, then she has lied and he has clearly told the simple truth’. (Surat Yusuf, 26-27)
This reply was an indication of the Prophet Yusuf’s (as) innocence. The woman had torn the back of the prophet’s shirt, and the significance of this became apparent. As the Prophet Yusuf (as) approached the door the woman had come up behind him. The governor realised that the Prophet Yusuf (as) was innocent and that his wife had made the whole story up. Yet matters did not end there. People began gossiping about what had taken place between the prophet and the governor’s wife. This made her exceedingly uncomfortable. So she began preparing another plan. Her plan was to prove that her improper suggestion to the Prophet Yusuf (as) was justified, because his extraordinary beauty attracted the admiration of large numbers of women.
Despite all the Prophet Yusuf’s (as) determination, Aziz’s wife renewed her proposition in full public gaze. She said that if he refused her she would have him imprisoned. But the Prophet Yusuf (as) was utterly determined. He immediately sought refuge in Allah and sought His help in all sincerity:
He said, ‘My Lord, the prison is preferable to me than what they call on me to do. Unless You turn their guile away from me, it may well be that I will fall for them and so become a man of ignorance.’ His Lord replied to him and turned away from him their female guile and deviousness. He is the One Who Hears, the One Who Knows. (Surat Yusuf, 33-34)
Although the Prophet Yusuf’s (as) innocence was obvious, they took a ruthless decision and cast him into a dungeon, where he spent the next several years.
Following the long years of imprisonment, a lot of auspicious events determined by Allah in the destiny He had determined took place. Eventually the country’s ruler learned of the Prophet Yusuf’s (as) moral virtues, trustworthiness and learning, and gave him an important post in the running of the country, appointing him head of the Egyptian Treasury. This is described as follows in the verses of the Qur’an.
The King said, ‘Bring him to me straight away! so I may draw him very close to me.’ When he had spoken with him, he declared, ‘Today you are trusted, established in our sight.’ He said, ‘Entrust the country’s stores to me. In truth I am a knowing guardian.’ And thus We established Yusuf in the land so he could live in any place he pleased. We grant Our grace to anyone We will and We do not allow to go to waste the wage of any people who do good. (Surat Yusuf, 54-56)
The Prophet Yusuf (as), whose moral virtues right from childhood are a role model for all believers and who scrupulously abided by the limits set by Allah under all circumstances, was rewarded for these virtues and takwa with Allah’s mercy, becoming very wealthy. Allah brought about a change that appeared ‘impossible’ on the surface and suddenly made him a powerful figure in the Egyptian administration. This, bringing about things that on the surface appear to be impossible, is Allah’s wisdom and artistry. As we are told in the Qur’an; “How many a small force has triumphed over a much greater one by Allah’s permission!” (Surat al-Baqara, 249), Allah rescues people from the most difficult and impossible-seeming situations and grants them victory over the deniers, all as a sign leading to faith. A believer’s only duty is never to renounce his faith in Allah’s promise and always to submit to Him.
This is very definitely a sign of Allah’s compassion for the Prophet Yusuf (as). It was his fear of Allah, fortitude, and patience that bestowed such value on him, not his economic knowledge and expertise in Treasury matters.  He never made any concessions regarding Islamic moral values.  As a result of these virtues, our Lord bestowed wealth and rank on him in this world:
…there are men who proclaim His glory morning and evening,
not distracted by trade or commerce from the remembrance of Allah and the establishment of salat and the payment of zakat; fearing a day when all hearts and eyes will be in turmoil –  so that Allah can reward them for the best of what they did and give them more from His unbounded favour. Allah provides for anyone He wills without reckoning. (Surat an-Nur, 37-38)
The Prophet Yusuf (as) was aware that everything he possessed (his material wealth, knowledge and intelligence) had all been given him by Allah. Deniers, on the other hand, imagine they come into possession of all they own through their own efforts, become swollen up with pride and are ungrateful for Allah’s blessings. But despite being a prophet chosen by Allah, the Prophet Yusuf (as) still wished to be a Muslim and join the ranks of the pure. He was not certain of his place in the hereafter, but genuinely feared Allah and prayed to him humbly out of need.
My Lord, You have granted power to me on earth and taught me the true meaning of events. Originator of the heavens and earth, You are my Friend in this world and the Next. So take me as a Muslim at my death and join me to the people who are salihun’. (Sura Yusuf, 101)
This is the behaviour and mindset that befits a believer. By Allah’s will, it is those who possess such moral values who will attain salvation in the hereafter.

Turkish-Islamic Union’s Developmental Model

Turkish-Islamic Union’s Developmental Model

Economic cooperation is necessary on two counts: stability and development. Muslim nations must bring stability and solidity to their economies. Developing industries and making the required investments is vital, as is the need for a comprehensive development plan and the simultaneous development of education, economy, culture, science, and technology. While various sectors are developed technologically, the labor force’s educational levels and standards must be raised accordingly. Society must be motivated to become more productive, and the resulting economic cooperation will play a major role in eradicating poverty, illiteracy, the unjust distribution of wealth, and other socioeconomic problems rampant in Muslim countries. This partnership can be formed only by the creation of free trade zones, customs unions, and common economic areas.
The developmental model of a society dominated by Islamic morality will comprise social justice. Islamic morality requires people to be entrepreneurs and pioneers in all fields, as well as compassionate, selfless, and just to others. Throughout the rise of Islamic civilization, Muslims were world leaders in economics and very successful traders. However, the resulting wealth did not remain in the hands of the few, but spread throughout society. Such social aid institutions as charitable organizations, social complexes, soup kitchens, caravanserai (large inns), public baths, and libraries show that wealth and culture did not remain in the hands of a few Muslims, but were accessible to all. The envisaged Islamic Union must adopt this developmental model.

The Turkish-Islamic Union Will Speed Up Joint Ventures

The Turkish-Islamic Union Will Speed Up Joint Ventures

The economies of Muslim nations contain differences in structure and functioning. Some nations’ economies depend upon mineral resources, such as the members of OPEC, while other nations’ depend upon agriculture. These differences are also reflected, to some extent, in their social structures, such as the widely varying degrees of rural and urban populations. Developing complementary relationships and helping each other in their respective areas of expertise can turn these differences into a source of riches. All of this will be possible with the Turkish-Islamic Union.
Joint ventures and project partnerships will be an important step in the right direction, for they will enable countries to benefit from one another’s experiences and the income earned from investment projects will benefit all of the participating countries. Such mutual financial support is compatible with Islamic morality, for helping the needy and having a sense of social responsibility are important characteristics that Muslims strive to acquire. Many verses in the Qur’an remind Muslims to watch over the needy.
Society’s internal cohesion must be extended to international relations. As international cooperation within a partnership cannot be one-sided, employment and income levels will rise in both countries. For example, one country will produce oil and another one will process it, and agriculturally dependent countries will be able to import the food they need from agriculturally developed countries. A manpower-poor country’s need will be met by another Islamic country, while rich countries will be able to invest in and help out a manpower-rich country that does not have enough jobs for its people. This will be to the benefit of both. Sharing know-how and experience will increase prosperity, and all Muslims will benefit from technological developments.
Joint ventures that realize the Islamic world’s unification of opportunities and means will enable Muslims to produce hi-tech products. The Islamic common market will make it possible for Muslim-made products to be marketed in other Muslim countries without the hindrance of customs, quotas, and other cross-border obstacles. The marketplace will grow, the market share and exports of all Muslim nations will rise, industrialization will speed up, and economic development will bring progress in technology. When all of this comes to pass, Muslim nations will operate as a consortium against other investment groups and will become an important part of the global economy.
All of these can be realized only under a central authority’s leadership and coordination. Achieving this will be possible if Muslim nations adopt the Qur’an’s values and the Prophet’s (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) Sunnah, or, in other words, if they adopt Islamic culture. The Turkish-Islamic Union must lead the way to this cultural awakening, as well as the resulting political and economic cooperation.

Towards a Turkish Economic Union

Towards a Turkish Economic Union

Every new joint initiative undertaken with the Turkic republics can lead to great and rapid success. Because there are very powerful religious and historical bonds between Turkey and the peoples of those countries. These factors form the trust, which is a prerequisite in all relations.
Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the Turkic republics of Central Asia all became independent Republics. Today, both Turkey and the other Turkic republics are all caught in an economic bottleneck. Although Turkey’s position cannot fully be compared with that of the other republics, that is nevertheless the general situation. Yet the Turkish Republic in particular has a great potential to quickly overcome this economically difficult period. Japan, which went through much worse times before pulling itself together and becoming a world economic leader is an obvious model. Despite suffering terrible devastation during the Second World War, Japan entered a very rapid period of regeneration. Economic leap was the main factor behind Japan achieving the position it has today.
There is no doubt that Turkey and the Turkic republics will constitute a major economic and political force when they act together as one in all spheres. With their population of some 120 million, Turkey and the Turkic republics can make far greater use of the advantages posed by their lying in a very large and productive region and by their sharing the same religious and cultural heritage.
Turkey today enjoys only slightly more than a $1 billion share of the some $30 billion trade volume of the Turkic republics as a whole. This 3.4% volume of trade is exceedingly low.
Turkey’s interest in and support for these regions increased considerable in the wake of independence, though it obviously needs to make a more concentrated effort if the desired structure is to be attained.

A Deep-Rooted Economic Initiative

An economic and cultural union including the independent Turkic republics and under Turkish leadership can offer significant advantages, in many respects, both to those countries and to Turkey. Such an initiative, under the leadership of the Turkish Republic, which is far stronger than those republics in military and technological terms, will soon take the place it deserves in the world political and economic spheres.
Today, at a time when there is a huge increase in global market competition, and when natural resources are being increasingly consumed, the Turkic republics possess markets that have never been entered, agricultural wealth, oil, natural gas and raw material resources.
Turkey should be engaged in an intensive exchange with these republics, since economic progress is linked with production , and Turkey’s preferences should lie in the direction of those regions. Turkey can further increase its ongoing support for the region in the technological and educational spheres.
Turkey can today consider similar measures for the Turkic republics to those encouraging investment in the countries of Eastern Europe by providing various cost advantages. Moreover, it can give preference to the Turkic republics. To put it another way, investments in that region should be preferred and as little money should flow out of the zone as possible. Because the foreign borrowing burden, a common problem, can only be lightened by means of production-based revenues.

In Foreign Policy Terms

Turkey must proceed with the greatest care in its relations with the Central Asian republics. Turkey’s concentrating primarily on Central Asia in commercial and political matters should not lead to its ignoring Europe, America or the Middle East. Indeed, in determining a Central Asian oriented strategy it must obviously also treat its relations with other countries as a single whole. If a global strategy can be developed as Turkey looks towards Central Asia in economic terms, this will have the effect of assisting further advances to be made with Central Asia. For example, technical help to be secured from the West in establishing economic co-operation with Central Asia can put Turkey in the position of a bridge between the West and Central Asia. For that, however, it is essential that Turkey take the initiative in Central Asia.

What Needs to Be Done

Some of the factors needing to be concentrated on if Turkey is to develop economic relations with these countries may be set out as follows:
    * It can take advantage of the republics’ natural resources and act as a global intermediary for these to be sold to other countries.
    * It can sell agricultural products to these countries under advantageous conditions.
    * It can increase its market share in the sphere of construction and house building and construction materials.
    * A joint stock exchange can be set up, not concentrating on short-term profit from foreign exchange but on Turkish company shares or real estate.
    * Investors in Turkey can be encouraged to invest in the region and incentives can be provided.
    * A Turkish-based consortium can assume responsibility for heavy industry and technological infrastructure.
Advisory economic institutions can be set up with these countries.
The above suggestions constitute an interesting summary of the kind of relations Turkey could establish with these countries.  However, in order for economic relations and other social initiatives to proceed, Turkey must make frequent reference to our shared linguistic, religious and cultural heritage. In the same way that we enjoy the moral values of the Qur’an, with its unificatory characteristics, so we must do all we can to spread those values among our relatives in the Turkic republics. Allah has told us to act as one by abiding by the moral virtues of the Qur’an:
“Hold fast to the rope of Allah all together, and do not separate. Remember Allah’s blessing to you…” (Surah Al ‘Imran, 103)

The Turkish-Islamic Union under Turkish Leadership and Supported by the Turkic Union

The time has come for the Turkish-Islamic world to unite. There is no reason why these communities, with a common religion, language, customs, heritage and tradition, should not unite and act as one. The unification of Turkic-Islamic societies, which generally speak the same language, which believe in the one God, which sincerely submit to our Prophet (saas) and love him with a profound respect, and which share the Islamic moral values of hospitality, love, loyalty, humility, sincerity, its entire essence, will come as a great blessing. The current division between these nations is exceedingly artificial and unnecessary. When the Turkish-Islamic world, which stretches over a wide expanse of land from the Caucasus to Tanzania and from Morocco to Fiji, acts as one it will, Allah willing, arise gloriously anew.
Union lies at the heart of Islamic moral values. Allah reveals in the Qur’an that in order for the corruption on Earth to end, believers must be one another’s friends and allies and act in unity and unison:
… If you do not act in this way [be the friends and protectors of one another] there will be turmoil in the land and great corruption. (Surat al-Anfal, 73)
The establishment of the Turkish-Islamic Union is essential if the bloodshed in the world is to stop, for anarchy and terror to come to an end, if peace and abundance are to prevail, for the Muslim world to attain security and for world peace.
  • The secular structure of the Turkish-Islamic Union will protect both believers and unbelievers, and people of all ideologies and beliefs. Not only Muslims will be able to worship and live freely as they wish under the umbrella of this union based on the principles of secularism, democracy and the supremacy of the law, but also Jews and Christians. Not only believers, but also Buddhists, atheists, agnostics and materialists, in short everyone, will be free to express their opinions and live as they choose in the climate of freedom established under the Turkish-Islamic Union. The Turkish-Islamic Union will regard everyone, no matter what their beliefs, opinions, race or nation, as first-class citizens, and will constitute a social role model with its democratic and secular structure that attaches the proper value to human rights and fundamental liberties.
  • The Turkish-Islamic Union is a moderate union. It will be a union based on respect for human beings, based on tolerance and compassion, open-minded and free-thinking, a union of brotherhood and love, rather than one of fanaticism, repression and subjugation. It will establish security for those nations uniting under it and to the other nations of the world.  It will be a most excellent thing for the Turkish-Islamic world to have such a rational, reasonable and just leadership, not just for the 1.5 billion or so Muslims who currently face so many difficulties, but also for everyone else in the world. Ever since the time of the Prophet Muhammad (saas), Muslims have led the way in such fields as reason, science, philosophy, art, culture and civilization, and have produced stupendous works for the “good of all humanity.” It is the Turkish-Islamic Union that will lead the way to the 21st century being an age of real enlightenment.
  • The enlightenment brought about by the Turkish-Islamic Union will greatly benefit the entire world. The USA, Russia, China, Israel and all the states of Europe will see that deep-rooted problems that have persisted for many years have suddenly been resolved with the foundation of the Turkish-Islamic Union, which will be of benefit to everyone. All concerns regarding the security, economies and cultural values of the great powers lying outside the Turkish-Islamic Union will disappear once that union has been established. The war against terror will come to an end, cultural conflict will be completely eradicated, it will be possible for underground resources to be used in the best manner by everyone, there will be economic stability and the possibility of crisis will be eliminated, and funds currently diverted to military expenditure will be spent on a high-quality and more secure life for all. A powerful Turkish-Islamic Union is obviously in the interests of all.
  • The Turkish-Islamic world is going through a time of maturation. The troubles that have persisted for more than 100 years, from the late 19th century to the present day, have raised the consciousness of and strengthened the Turkish-Islamic world. The moral values of the true faith have spread gloriously across this expanse of land. There now exists a mass of people, and the younger generation in particular, who are mature and aware, and purged of all fanaticism. It is evident that we now have an ideal foundation for the unification of the Turkish-Islamic world that is so excitedly and joyfully anticipated. It is essential that proper advantage be taken of this climate and that the requisite steps be taken forthwith.

COULD THE CRISIS IN THE GLOBAL ECONOMY BE ONE OF THE SIGNS OF THE END TIMES?

COULD THE CRISIS IN THE GLOBAL ECONOMY BE ONE OF THE SIGNS OF THE END TIMES?

The beginning of October saw the beginning of a historic crisis in the world economy, and in the USA in particular, that had long since been sending signals of its impending arrival. A number of experts and analysts predict that this crisis could even dwarf the Great Depression that began in the 1920 and continued throughout the 1930s. READ >>>
